I have been thinking about feeding my dog Organic pet foods, then I see something called "all natural foods." What is the difference if any?
Organic means grown without herbicides or pesticides. All natural means everything in it is natural… eg. a plant, animal or grain.
Pesticides are made to kill things… anyone who thinks they can kill the bugs and weeds but are perfectly safe to consume should really think about it. I know they are consumed in minute quantities, but over time I tend to wonder why we have so much more cancer and immunodeficiency ailments these days such as asthma and severe allergies.
Whichever you go with be sure it is a good quality animal diet… as far as cost goes you are better off buying a grain free (or at lease wheat and corn free) diet over an organic diet with wheat or corn in the top 5 ingredients. If you can afford an organic grain free diet…then your pup is one lucky dog!
Wheat and corn are much harder on your animal than the small amount of pesticides are…
And this is coming from someone who buys organic LOTS and truely understands the difference.
How to socialize my dog with other dogs?

I have a male maltese mixed, 1 1/2 years old at home and recently adopted a new dog, a 3 years old male shih tzu. The problem is, the shih tzu basically does not get along with all dogs, not just my current maltese mixed. He’ll growl whenever a dog comes near him and even attempt to attack and bite other dogs. Since he is a rescued dog, I do not have any information of his past. He marks very often though I’ve tried to correct him many times.
How do teach him to be calmed and submissive when he’s around with other dogs?
Is he neutered? If not, get him neutered and that should lessen the marking…but once that becomes a habit you can’t train him not to mark areas in the house…
As for socializing, you just have to work with him. My mix also hated other dogs, but I would just take her to dog parks or an area with dogs, keep her on leash and gauge her reaction. Even with the dogs far away she would often growl and I would tell her "no". After a few times doing this, she would not growl in the dog park, so I would treat her. We began moving closer and closer to the dogs, waiting until she wouldn’t growl and then getting closer. Over time I would allow her to go up to other dogs, always being careful to be aware of her reactions (i.e. hackles raised, tail in between legs, ears back, teeth bared, etc.) and over time she would get used to the other dogs and eventually she was perfectly fine. Now she LOVES to run around with other dogs, but I will tell you it took awhile to get where she is now.

How much canned cat food should I feed my cats?

I have two cats. One is a year old, the other seems to be two.
I was wondering how much cat food they should get a day. (It is canned cat food)
I understand how the weight thing should work, but until I can find a accurate scale I’ve gotta go by holding-the-cat-and-guessing.
We had dry food, I don’t know if we’ll get it. Besides, I didn’t ask about what wet food causes, I asked about how much they should be getting.
Wow – so much bad advice!!!!
First off, if you went by what the manufacturers recommend on cat food cats your cat would be clinically obese. Even the best of foods list the amount to feed as nearly twice what it should be.
Secondly, contrary to all the "expert" comments, canned food is FAR healthier for your cat than wet food and doesn’t lead to all the problems that the "experts" say it does.

I have four cats and I feed them the smaller cans of food so there’s never any waste. If I use the larger cans then I end up either putting too much on their plates or stick the rest in the fridge where I never remember to take it back out again – so into the trash it goes. My four cats split a small can twice a day and I also feed them dry food, Innova Evo, which is 50% protein and contains zero grain. With your two cats you could just feed them once a day and split one small can. If this is all you’re feeding them then I’d give them each half a can twice a day.
Should I do this as an animal lover?

We recently moved into a house in the woods that is infested with mice, waterbugs, roaches and silverfish. As lovers of animals, we let them stay, rent free. Well, last night it was rather warm and i took my covers off and they were scurrying across my chest and it became a nuisance. I hate to set traps or call a chemical pest control. Do I have any other options? Should I get a cat or other bug eating pet like a lizard or frog?
